BBC’s popular show, The One Show, faced a temporary setback on Wednesday, May 22, as it was pulled from the TV schedules. This unexpected change occurred due to a shake-up, causing BBC News to run over until 7.30pm after Rishi Sunak’s general election announcement. Disappointed fans weren’t the only ones affected, as ITV’s The Chase was also cut in favor of the news, leaving viewers fuming. Expressing their frustration on Twitter, one person wrote, “Fumin, where’s #TheChase,” while another commented, “Right that’s it, where’s the b****y #thechase ? #GeneralElection Rishi best get this over and done with tout suite. I can’t tolerate, Preston and Brady filling for half an hour @ITV. Off to get myself registered to vote.” A third person echoed the sentiment, stating, “Son is absolutely fuming #thechase has been stopped for this nonsense! #itv #itvnews #BreakingNews,” and a fourth person moaned, “Can we get #thechase on now please? @itv. We got the message 4th July. Now where’s #bradleywalsh?” However, fans can rest assured as The One Show will return to its regular 7pm slot on BBC One on Thursday, May 23, and The Chase will also be back on ITV at 5pm.
