Barbara Windsor’s widower, Scott Mitchell, has opened up about his life after her death in a recent interview. The beloved EastEnders actress passed away four years ago at the age of 83, following her Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Speaking to Best Magazine, Mitchell revealed that Barbara had encouraged him to grieve and then move on. He humorously added, “Knowing Barbara, she would have remarried a nice 25-year-old by now!” Mitchell has since accomplished various feats, including running a marathon and writing a book, all while dedicating himself to charity work. However, he now feels it’s time to focus on himself and his future, while still cherishing the memory of his late wife.

Mitchell is currently in a relationship with Tanya Franks, who is also an actress and his former co-star on EastEnders. Franks portrayed the character Rainie Cross on the show. Barbara Windsor, originally known as Barbara Ann Deeks, was born in Shorditch on August 6, 1937. She began her acting career at the young age of 13 and gained widespread recognition for her roles in the Carry On movies from 1964 to 1974. However, she became truly iconic for her portrayal of Peggy Mitchell, the Queen Vic landlady and mother to Phil and Grant, on the BBC One soap.

Even after four years since Barbara’s passing, Scott Mitchell remains dedicated to raising funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK. He has participated in the London Marathon alongside several EastEnders stars, using his platform to bring attention to the cause. Despite moving forward with his life, Mitchell acknowledges that Barbara will always hold a significant place in his heart. However, he believes that she would want him to find happiness and continue living his life to the fullest.
