HSBC’s mobile banking app has crashed, causing chaos for thousands of customers. Over 3,000 users have reported problems on DownDetector, just as the bank holiday weekend begins. The app failure has left customers unable to access their accounts, leading to frustration and inconvenience.

In a brief statement on X, HSBC acknowledged the issue and apologized to affected customers. They stated that some customers are experiencing difficulties with online and mobile banking services. The bank is urgently investigating the problem and promised to provide an update soon.

One customer shared their experience, revealing an error message that read: “503 ERROR The request could not be satisfied. The Lambda function associated with the CloudFront distribution was throttled. We can’t connect to the server for this app or website at this time.” This technical glitch has further added to the frustration of customers who rely on the app for their banking needs.

The app malfunction was first reported at 8:02am, and within just 15 minutes, there were already over 1,600 reports of outages. This sudden crash has disrupted the plans of many customers, who were hoping to manage their finances conveniently over the long weekend.

HSBC is working tirelessly to resolve the issue and restore normal functionality to its mobile banking app. However, until the problem is fixed, customers will have to find alternative ways to access their accounts and carry out their banking transactions.
