Welsh presenter Alex Jones has opened up about the challenges of motherhood, admitting that she tries to balance it all. The 47-year-old, who shares three children with her husband Charlie Thomson, spoke candidly about the difficulties of being a working mother. “I feel super guilty for leaving them,” she said. “But I know that I do a job I love and a job that keeps the family afloat. So, I don’t know… I just basically try and do it all.”

Alex also revealed that she and her family have no plans to leave London, as they enjoy the sense of community they have built there. “Our street feels like a proper neighborhood,” she said. “We know all our neighbors. And I don’t think you get that everywhere.”

The presenter has previously spoken about the challenges of having a baby in her late thirties. She expressed frustration with the pressure put on women to choose between a career and children, saying, “It’s not a career or children, it’s just sometimes you find the two don’t go hand in hand, however much you want them to.” Alex became pregnant at 39 and considers it a “massive surprise” and a privilege to be a mother.

She hopes that in the future, there will be less judgment and more celebration of different choices when it comes to motherhood. “Stay-at-home mums have it hard, too,” she said. “We’re all judged. I hope by the time my son is grown up, the conversation will have moved on and people will be more supportive of each other.”

Despite assumptions that she prioritized her career over having children, Alex clarified that the timing of her pregnancy was a personal decision. “It was nothing to do with that,” she said. “I just felt getting pregnant when I did was the right time for me.”
